CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at 6:02 p.m.

CONSENT CALENDAR
1. Approve regular meeting minutes of July 13, 2011. Motion to approve the minutes made by Karen Nunez and seconded by Cecilia Skuza. Motion approved 10-0.

SCHEDULED MATTERS
2. DISCUSSION ITEM: Update on the annual National Night Out event scheduled for August 2, 2011. BANC members discussed seeking donations from local businesses to include in a gift basket for neighborhoods meeting criteria set by BANC members. Members will solicit donations from Fremont Bank, Safeway and Raleys. Members are still needed to volunteer with visiting all the neighborhoods participating in the event.

3. DISCUSSION ITEM: Review the Home of Month Program, including winner presentations. BANC members expressed their approval of the gift basket from Gursky Ranch that was purchased for the Home of them Month winner. They will continue to present to the winning homeowners each month after the BANC meeting has concluded.

4. ACTION ITEM: Select a subcommittee to plan the annual Christmas Tree Lighting and approve the date, time and a budget not to exceed $700 for event supplies and services. The date of Friday, December 2nd, was selected for this year’s event, which will be held at the Brentwood Senior Activity Center. Event activities will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by the lighting of the tree lighting at 7:00 p.m. The committee discussed the need to secure more hot chocolate and cookies to give away to attendees. A flyer will be made and distributed at Hometown Halloween and other events and locations around town. The following members volunteered to work event details:

Motion to approve the Christmas Tree Lighting for December 2, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. with a budget not to exceed $700 for event supplies and services made by Cecilia Skuza and seconded by Cheryl Nickerson. Motion approved 9-0.

STAFF COMMENTS: Staff Liaison Michele Keady talked about home invasions in the area of Shadow Lakes and the arrest of three suspects.
