STAFF COMMENTS
Roger Stromgren advised the Commission that the filters in the competition pool at the Aquatic Center are being replaced and that pool will be closed the last week of July. He also informed them that the red step at the bottom of the play equipment at Blue Goose Park is being retrofitted to comply with ADA requirements, which will result in the equipment being roped off for the week of July 26 – 30. The Veterans Park new critter sculptures are still safe, and our surveillance cameras are fully operational. The three sycamore trees that were poisoned on Balfour Road are not salvageable and it seems as though the poison has leeched out to two other trees. We will have to wait until October to remove them and replace with large young trees. The downtown renovation is moving forward with 8 varieties of trees, including autumn purple ash, crape myrtle, alee elm, red maples and Ginko trees.

Edie Keller informed the Commission that the Parks and Recreation subcommittees will have 1 liaison and 1 alternate.

COMMISSIONER COMMENTS
Commissioner Lind inquired as to whether Mallard Park was open yet, as she saw it in the Brentwood News listed as a water feature park. Roger Stromgren said he would check with Barry Margesson.

Commissioner Madden inquired from staff about the status of the upcoming Flag Football season. Linda Stadlbauer informed the Commission that the coach’s meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 28, and that parents would subsequently be called over the weekend with their child’s team and coach.
Chair Rodrigues informed the Commission that the Veterans Park memorial dedication, hosted by Eagle Scout candidate David Juarez, was very nicely done and the fundraising dinner that followed had a good turnout. Chair Rodrigues would like to nominate David for the District Volunteer of the Year Award. He also wanted to let staff know that he fully supports their decision to disband the adult soccer league.
