CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Melloni called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.

ROLL CALL: Present were Karen Rarey, Chairperson Jan Melloni, and Vice-Chairperson Jeff Cowling. Commissioners absent and excused were Ernie Rodrigues and Lanny Brown.

Others present were Craig Bronzan, Director of Parks and Recreation; Janet Hansen, Park Planner; Ken DeSilva, Park Services Manager; Dennis Beougher, City of Brentwood Attorney; and Warren McClung and Gus Esculia of the RRM Design and Associates, Inc.

PUBLIC HEARING:
Item No. 1. Consideration of a resolution to City Council for the Adoption of the City of Brentwood Parks, Trails and Recreation Master Plan and Mitigated Negative Declaration (C. Bronzan/RRM Design)

Chairperson Melloni opened the Public Hearing for comment.

Commissioner Rarey moved to close the Public Hearing, Commissioner Cowling seconded the motion and motion carried unanimously.

There were no issues for discussion. All Commissioners present felt it was a well-drafted document.

One brief comment by Commissioner Cowling as to number of acres available for parks. Director Bronzan said they are on target with acreage per resident. Chairperson commented for the record that she feels Brentwood is one of the more beautiful cities in the East Bay because of its beautiful parks and trails. 

Commissioner Cowling suggested hosting meetings in some of the parks, holding regular Commission meeting in a park in the summer. This might get people out and interested in the meetings, as well as the parks. He suggested the Youth Commission do the same thing. Suggested the possibility of also serving food at the meetings. 

Chairperson Melloni asked for a motion to approve the adoption of Resolution 1. Motion to approve by Commissioner Rarey. Motion seconded by Commissioner Cowling and motion carried unanimously.

Director Bronzan will take the recommendation on to the City Council. He feels they will be very supportive of all the hard work that the Commission has done on the document.
