REGULAR MEETING January 22, 2009 at 7 p.m. City Council Chamber 734 Third Street Brentwood, CA 94513 CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Brown called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present were Chair Lanny Brown, Vice Chair Eileen Hofstadt and Commissioners Sandra Myers, and Ernie Rodrigues. Staff members present were Craig Bronzan, Parks and Recreation Director, Poldina Scherff, Recreation Manager; Roger Stromgren, Landscape/Facilities Manager; Tina Clark, Accountant II, Jackie Dwyer, Recreation Coordinator, Pam Ehler, Director of Finance and Information Systems, and Edie Keller, Administrative Supervisor. PRESENTATION(S): NONE AGENDA REVIEW: NONE CITIZEN COMMENTS: NONE CONSENT CALENDAR: Motion to approve items 1-3 of Consent calendar. 5. Approve the new rules regarding the upcoming Spring 2009 Adult Coed Soccer League (B. Gary and J. Dwyer) Motion to approve above item 5. 6. Approve the calendar of scheduled meetings for 2009 (E. Keller) Motion to approve above item 6. 7. Election of officers (E. Keller) Motion to table above item 7. STAFF COMMENTS Roger Stromgren, Landscape/Facilities Manager, advised the Commission that Topaz Park will be going to the January City Council meeting for acceptance. Blue Goose Park will be going in February. Garin park and Trail in February, as well. He is checking into whether the shade covering at Mallard Park is missing. Craig Bronzan advised the Commission that though City Council appreciated the Commission’s offer to forgo their stipends, it is not necessary. Also, he reminded the Commission about the importance of adhering to the policy set forth by the Brown Act when emailing. Poldina Scherff, Recreation Manager, updated the Commission that the new Senior Activity Center is open and running. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS Commissioner Rodrigues gave kudos to Poldina Scherff and Parks and Recreation Department for the completion and opening of the Senior Center. He also advised the Commission that Craig Bronzan had won the “Outstanding Professional” award from CAPRCBM, to be presented in Santa Clara. He will accompany Mr. Bronzan to the banquet. Commissioner Hofstadt congratulated Mr. Bronzan on the award and stated that she and her husband are attending the awards banquet, as well. She also stated that she would like to volunteer at the new Senior Center. Commission Chair, Lanny Brown, complimented the staff for the impressive new Senior Center.
