REGULAR MEETING April 23, 2009 at 7 p.m. City Council Chamber 734 Third Street Brentwood, CA 94513 CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Hofstadt called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present were Chair Eileen Hofstadt, Vice Chair Ernie Rodrigues and Commissioners Sandra Myers, and Blythe Lind, Commissioner Lanny Brown was excused. Staff members present were Poldina Scherff, Recreation Manager, Olivia Ruiz-Alvarez, Sue Barry and Barbie Gary, Recreation Supervisors, Tammy Homan, Management Analyst, and Linda Stadlbauer, Administrative Assistant. PRESENTATION(S): Ed2go Online Classes (Olivia Ruiz-Alvarez) AGENDA REVIEW: NONE CITIZEN COMMENTS: NONE CONSENT CALENDAR: Motion to approve items 1-5 of Consent calendar. SCHEDULED MATTERS: Motion to approve Item #6 revised Waitlist Policy for recreation activities and recommend to City Council for approval. STAFF COMMENTS Poldina Scherff advised the Commission of a few of the upcoming events. May 2nd will be the opening day for the Aquatic Center, Saturday from 12-5pm and Sunday from 12-6pm, until June 8th at which time we will also be open for weekdays from 1-6pm for the summer. The concession stand will also be open during these hours. We have our first wedding at the Senior Center this weekend. Pee Wee Baseball, ASA Girls Fast Pitch Softball, and Biddy Soccer are doing well in registration. The new Summer Activities Guide will be available for resident registration on May 18th. Blue Goose Park is now open! The Art Wine and Jazz Festival will be on August 29th and 30th. Sue Barry advised the Commission that the Activities Guide is at the printer and will be mailed on Tammy Homan advised the Commission that the State of the City Address will be Thursday, April 30 at 5:00pm at the Senior Activity Center. We will be having flyers advertising all of our programs available for the public. Barbie Gary advised the Commission that we will be re-applying for the Playful City Award. She also stated that the Starry Nites Concerts will be starting again, beginning June 12th with the last one on August 1st. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS Commissioner Rodrigues commented that it was disappointing that we didn’t get the award for Veterans Park. He advised the Commission that Len Bregman would like to come back to the Commission with a proposal to reduce the prices for the memorial tiles. He also congratulated Craig Bronzan on his award. Commissioner Rodrigues and Commissioner Myers advised the Commission that they attended the Planning Commission meeting at which the Sciortino Ranch was presenting their revised request for building their development in Brentwood. The Planning Commission was unanimous in their denial of the request. Commissioner Lind thanked Sue Barry and Barbie Gary for all their hard work on the Playful City award.
