The Fleet/Facilities Maintenance Division consists of the Fleet Maintenance Section and the Facilities Maintenance Section.
The Fleet Maintenance Section is responsible for the acquisition and disposal of City vehicles and equipment, providing preventative maintenance and repair on vehicles & equipment, purchasing parts and accessories necessary for repair, and managing the fuel resources for the City of Brentwood. Fleet Maintenance staff is certified through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and the Fleet Maintenance shop has earned a “Blue Seal of Excellence.” They are also certified as a Contra Costa County “Green Business.” They pride themselves in high quality workmanship while protecting the environment. The Fleet Maintenance staff provides the City with quick, safe, and efficient service.
The Fleet Maintenance Section maintains 205 pieces of vehicles/equipment including refuse trucks, street sweepers, pick-up trucks, construction vehicles, mowers, and small gas powered equipment; this includes 51 pieces of alternative fuel vehicles/equipment. Fleet Maintenance is in compliance with the California Air Resources Board mandated diesel emission retrofits. Staff maintains a computerized fleet management program to track operating costs, schedule preventative maintenance, and provide information to support operational decisions. Staff also coordinates compliance with applicable regulatory agencies associated with commercial fleet operation including licensing and inspections.
Fleet/ Facilities Maintenance Staff
The maintenance shop is environmentally conscious and use many recycled and environment friendly products. In order to reduce waste, they use only re-refined oil and anti-freeze. They capture all waste oil and refrigerant, send it out to be re-refined, and then purchase the re-refined product to use in City vehicles and equipment. They also recycle CFC’s, used oil filters, parts washer solution, oily rags and uniforms, used tires, all metal and aluminum parts, and lead acid batteries.
Heavy Equipment Lift
The Facilities Maintenance Section is responsible for maintaining City owned buildings and structures including preventative maintenance services, major renovations, maintenance of safety systems, and energy management operations. Facilities Maintenance staff maintain multiple certifications and are skilled in various trades including HVAC (heating, venting, and air conditioning), plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and pool maintenance. Facility Maintenance staff is environmentally conscious and strives to cut energy and other resource costs.
