Creek Maintenance

Creeks enhance our community and are a shared maintenance responsibility between the City, the Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District and private owners of creekside property. The greatest portion of the four creeks within the City limits; Marsh Creek, Sand Creek, Deer Creek, and Dry Creek, are owned and maintained by a public agency, either the City or the Flood Control District. In some locations creek maintenance is the responsibility of the creekside property owner. The attached Creek Ownership Map identifies ownership and maintenance responsibility.

Directions and Guidelines for Creek Maintenance by property owners was developed by the City as a tool and reference source to be used by creekside property owners.

Should you notice creeks in need of maintenance, please contact the City of Brentwood, Streets Division, (925) 516-6000 or submit a Service Request.

Graffiti History: The majority of graffiti is marked by vandals, also known as Tagger's. Most are motivated by the need to be recognized. Removing graffiti immediately from the tagged site will let vandals know they are wasting their time and materials. Please help in keeping our community clean. Report graffiti as soon as it is spotted.

Pavement Management Program/Schedule:
In general, Pavement Management can include activities ranging from street sweeping and patching potholes to major street reconstruction. The purpose of a Pavement Management Program is to greatly extend the useful life of pavement through the use of relatively inexpensive maintenance techniques. If streets are maintained in good condition the total annual maintenance investment is 5 to 7 times less than if the pavement is allowed to deteriorate to poor conditions. The City of Brentwood inspects its streets every 2-3 years.
