The City of Brentwood requires the submission of a completed and signed City application and all required documentation by the posted application deadline, unless stated otherwise in the recruitment flyer and advertisement. Applications, resumes and other application materials will not be accepted by fax or e-mail unless specifically stated in the recruitment flyer and advertisement. Postmarks will not be accepted.

Selection Process

  1. For most recruitments an original, City of Brentwood application form and all required documentation must be received by the City of Brentwood, Human Resources Division by the application deadline. Volunteer Application is here.
  2. At this time, the City of Brentwood does not accept faxed application materials.
  3. The City of Brentwood is not currently accepting resumes in lieu of an original City application. You may, however, submit a resume along with a completed City application for currently open positions.
  4. Applications are screened and the most qualified candidates are invited to continue in the recruitment process.
  5. The City of Brentwood reserves the right to test an applicant in any manner to determine eligibility. The recruitment process may include any or all of the following examination steps:
    • Written Test
    • Practical Test
    • Oral board Assessment
    • Assessment Center
    • Physical Fitness Test
  6. Top candidate(s) must consent to a background investigation.
  7. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment physical including drug screening. In some cases, primarily in public safety, a psychological assessment will also be conducted.
  8. Appointment is contingent upon the candidate's ability to provide eligibility to work in the United States.
