Brentwood Skate/BMX Park rules, regulations, and operations under consideration:
Due to changes to the California Health and Safety Code, Brentwood is considering changing the way it operates the Skate/BMX park located in Veterans Park.
These changes include:
· Changing the park to a non-supervised park by posting the rules and allowing users to “skate at their own risk”
· Increasing the hours of operation from the current limited hours to opening the park from dawn to dusk
· Allowing all non-motorized wheeled recreational devices including skateboards, bicycles, scooters, in-line skates, roller skates or wheelchairs
· Defining the age of park users to those 12 years of age or older
On March 23, 2017, the Parks and Recreation Commission approved a recommendation to City Council to update the rules and regulations of the skateboard park in accordance with updated California State Health and Safety Code regulations and changing the park to a non-supervised facility. This recommendation is scheduled to go to the Brentwood City Council on April 25, 2017 for review and consideration.
Questions regarding these proposed changes can be directed to the Brentwood Parks and Recreation Department at 516-5444.
