The Public Works Open House is an event the Public Works department looks forward to each year. Now in its 11th year, the event welcomes third-grade students from the Brentwood Union School District to the Corporation Yard for a hands-on look at the people, equipment, and work involved in keeping the city safe, clean, and running smoothly.

Please be cautious of fraudulent emails, phone calls, and text messages claiming to be from the City’s Permit Center or the City of Brentwood.

 

The City’s Permit Center will never ask for your credit card number, bank information, wire transfers, or other sensitive financial information by phone or email. You should also be wary of messages that create a sense of urgency, ask you to click unfamiliar links, or direct you to make payments outside of the City’s official payment portal.

 

Before clicking any links or responding to a message, take a moment to verify the sender’s email address and confirm that the request is legitimate. Do not open attachments or provide personal information if something seems suspicious.

 

When in doubt, contact the Community Development Department by calling (925)516-5405 or emailing building@brentwoodca.gov. The department can help confirm whether a message, invoice, permit request, or payment notice is legitimate.

HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT

 

The City’s LAUNCH Internship Program Celebration wasn’t just an event. It was a meaningful exchange of stories, advice, and inspiration.

Organized by City staff and the interns, the celebration brought together employees from departments across the City for a unique networking experience. Interns had the opportunity to connect one-on-one and in small groups with staff, asking thoughtful questions about career paths, professional growth, and the journeys that led employees to public service.

What made the event stand out was the curiosity and initiative of the interns themselves. They created a space where honest conversations could happen—about starting out, navigating challenges, and finding purpose in a career. Employees shared not only their professional experiences, but also practical advice and encouragement for those just beginning their careers.

The result was a lively and engaging environment that highlighted the value of mentorship, connection, and learning across all levels of the organization. Events like this reinforce the strength of City collaboration and the City’s commitment to developing the next generation of public servants.

The City is proud of the Interns for taking the lead on such a thoughtful and impactful event, and grateful to all the employees who participated and helped make it a success.

POLICE DEPARTMENT

 

 

 

 

On May 20, the Brentwood Police Department participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics to raise awareness and funds for the Special Olympics movement. The run began in front of the police department, where Brentwood PD carried the torch, known as the ‘Flame of Hope,’ before passing it to its friends at the Oakley Police Department.

The Brentwood Police Department is excited to launch its first Youth Academy, beginning June 22, to give young people in the community a behind-the-scenes look at local law enforcement.

 

The Youth Academy is designed to help participants learn more about the Brentwood Police Department, its officers, and the many specialized units and responsibilities within the agency. Youth participants will have the opportunity to explore topics such as SWAT, investigations and detectives, evidence collection, traffic stops, dispatch operations, and other important areas of police work.

On May 5, the community came together for an incredible day celebrating Life Skills students from Liberty High School, Heritage High School, Freedom High School, and the Gateway Program at this year’s Unified Prom and Parade.

 

Downtown Brentwood was filled with community spirit, smiles, and Star Wars fun, and the force was definitely strong throughout the celebration. This event would not have been possible without the support of Brentwood PAL, the Brentwood Police Department, the Liberty Union High School District, local businesses, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who helped bring the celebration to life.

 

Thank you to our amazing community for showing up, cheering on the students, and making each one feel like the star they are. It was a night filled with joy, inclusion, and unforgettable moments.

PARKS AND RECREATION

 

 

 

 

The City of Brentwood Parks and Recreation Department and The Delta invite the community to attend another Sensory-Friendly Movie on Tuesday, June 9 at 1:30 p.m. at The Delta. This event is designed to create a welcoming and inclusive movie-going experience for children and young adults with special needs or disabilities and their caregivers.

This special screening will feature lower sound levels, dimmed lighting, and a relaxed environment where guests are welcome to move around or make noise as needed.

 

This is a free event, but tickets are limited. All attendees, including caregivers, must be registered to attend. Early registration is encouraged to reserve a spot.

The City of Brentwood and the Arts Commission invite artists to participate in the City’s seventh Utility Box Mural Project. The City and the Commission are seeking artists to showcase their work on ten (10) utility boxes located throughout Brentwood. PUBLIC WORKS

A Summerset community member recently reached out to ask if we had mulch available for their community garden. Our team was happy to provide six yards, and it sparked a great idea .

 

In addition to offering free compost, we’ll now also be providing free mulch to Brentwood residents!

 

A special thank you to Summerset resident Chip for the suggestion. We appreciate residents who help us find new ways to support our community gardens and neighborhoods.

 

*This self-service station is located at the Recycled Water Fill Station at 2251 Elkins Way; follow the signs to the Recycled Water Fill Station. Although the supply is regularly replenished, the station operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring your own containers to transport the mulch.
