If you're planning to conduct business in the City of Brentwood and need a Business Tax Certificate (also referred to as a Business License), you're in the right place!

Brentwood values a strong and diverse business community. We appreciate our businesses not just as service providers, but as long-term partners invested in the growth and success of our city.

Apply or Renew a Business Tax Certificate

All businesses operating in the City of Brentwood are required to obtain a Business Tax Certificate. This applies even if your business is based outside the city but conducts operations within Brentwood.

Renewing or applying for a business tax certificate can be done online through our Business License Portal.

Alternatively, Business Tax Certificate Application and the Business Tax Certificate Application for residential landlords can be printed, completed, and mailed to 150 City Park Way, Brentwood, CA 94513.

After you complete your application and submit payment, your Business Tax Certificate will be emailed within 10 working days. In the meantime, your receipt will serve as a temporary Business Tax Certificate.

In the event of an emergency at a commercial property, it’s essential that the Brentwood Police Department has up-to-date contact information for individuals who have access to the premises and can respond promptly. Please fill out a Business Index Card and submit it with your Business Tax Certificate Application.
