Utility Billing is your point of contact when starting or stopping water, sewer and garbage services in the City of Brentwood. We establish your services and answer any questions you may have regarding service levels and fees. Utility Billing is also responsible for preparing and mailing the monthly bill for your water, sewer, and garbage services and posting payments to your utility account.

Balanced Billing Plan

To assist you in managing the seasonal fluctuations in your utility bill due to increased water consumption during summer months, you may be interested in signing up for the Balanced Billing Plan. This plan averages your previous 11 months of billing to determine your monthly payment. Your monthly bills will not be the same amount each month but you should see smaller variations between seasons. Certain criteria must be met to participate. Low Income Senior/Disability Discount

City of Brentwood offers a water base and/or garbage (32 gallon only) discount for low-income senior residents who are age 62 or older and/or permanently disabled. The program offers a 50% discount off meter base fee and 33% discount off 32 gallon garbage receptacle. Closing Your Account

The City requires two business days notification to turn services off per Municipal Code 3.26.220. The City requires account closures in writing. Please note the City does not turn off water on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Holidays. Services are disconnected early morning. Payment Guidelines

Your services are billed monthly. Please refer to the Rates & Billing Information for bill dates. Bills are due and payable when invoiced. Bills are past due twenty-five days after date of invoice and are considered paid when payment is received by the city. If you don't receive your bill, please contact Utility Billing. For fast and secure delivery of your bill, you can request an eBill for email delivery of your utility bill.

How do I establish service for water and garbage?

I had a high bill because of a toilet leak; can my bill be adjusted?

No. We are unable to provide credit for excessive water usage. However, per Brentwood Municipal Code BMC 3.26.190, the City of Brentwood allows a one-time adjustment on the water usage portion of your bill if you have experienced a leak on the service line. Before and after your leak is repaired, call (925) 516-5415 and speak to a Customer Service Representative to inquire about a leak adjustment.

You can contact the City of Brentwood Utility Billing by calling 925-516-5415 or by visiting our office at 150 City Park Way.

For customers unable to pay their utility charges, the City offers an Amortized Payment Arrangement under Brentwood Municipal Code 3.26.130. This arrangement allows delinquent charges to be paid over a six-month period, with a 25% down required to start the arrangement.

My garbage was missed, who do I call?

What is the garbage schedule for holidays?

There are only 2 holidays during the year that affect garbage service. These are Christmas Day and New Year's Day. If your service day is on or after these holidays, and they fall on a Monday through Friday, you will be serviced one day later for that week only. Garbage service is on regular schedule for all other holidays. If one of the above holidays fall on a Saturday or a Sunday, there is no change at all to your service day.

When are the bills for water / sewer / garbage mailed?

When is recycling picked up (blue cart) and when is organic waste (green cart) picked up?

Recycling (blue cart) and organic waste (green cart) is managed by the Public Works Solid Waste Division. To view the current Service Guides that includes the Service Calendar, visit the Garbage/Recycling page.

The city is divided into two recycling and organic waste collection zones: the Yellow Zone (North) and the Red Zone (South). These zones have alternating recycling and yard waste collection schedules.

To determine your zone, use the address lookup tool on the home page. Enter your full or partial house number and street name in the search bar (e.g., 150 City Park Way), then select your address from the list.
